This weekend I finished a quilt that has been a long-time in the works. Back in January of 2013 I started a slew of turquoise quilt tops. I've already finished a Chevron quilt, a Half-Square Triangle quilt, and most recently, a Turquoise Strip quilt. Now that this basket-weave quilt is finished, I think I'm done with turquoise for a while - at least for quilts. For this quilt I paired turquoise and gray low-volume prints with more saturated coordinating prints. The pattern is very traditional, but I feel that the fabrics give it a contemporary feel. For the back of the quilt I again used the turquoise polka dot print and added in a strip of fun turquoise-on-white fabric to bring it up to size. I quilted this quilt "in-the-ditch" between each block, and then added diagonal quilting through each block. It wanted it to crinkle nicely once it was washed. I machine-bound this quilt with the turquoise color-way of Patty Young's Running Stitch fabric. It was a snowy day when I went to take pictures. I love how the above photo looks like a black/white photo other than the turquoise quilt.
This is my second finish on my 2014 Q4 Finish-a-Long To DO list, and has sold. Thanks for stopping by!
